BlueTie Launches Smartbins Partner Program: SaaS SharePoint Competitor
BlueTie, a hosted messaging provider, has long said that service providers need to deliver value-added services beyond the mere mailbox. That’s where their Smartbins solution comes in: it’s a cloud-based collaboration service in the same vein as Microsoft SharePoint. While the product’s been available to BlueTie channel partners since Fall 2010, today marks the launch of an independent BlueTie Smartbins reseller program.
TalkinCloud’s sister site, The VAR Guy, detailed how Smartbins fits into the overall BlueTie channel strategy, but the basic idea is to give organizations a way to sort and backup files in the cloud by subject matter and content heading. Smartbins is built on the Wonderfile solution, which BlueTie acquired in late 2010.
The pitch to prospective partners, says BlueTie’s press release, is that Smartbins, unlike Microsoft SharePoint, offers the reseller up to 40% in margins, free API integrations, dedicated tier 2 support, and private labeling. And under this new independent channel program, cloud service providers could pair Smartbins with messaging and collaboration from other vendors.
No doubt, Microsoft SharePoint retains many fans in the IT channel. And SharePoint Online could get a further boost when Microsoft Office 365 debuts sometime in 2011. Still, TalkinCloud suspects that there’s room for a cloud competitor that lets the partner retain control of the customer.

I came accross http://bluetie.com and thought you may be able to help me, we are seeking companies who are looking for funding and would be potential merger/reverse merger candidates for our public shells. By using a public “shell”, debt to equity conversion or other creative financing methods, we could potentially fund $100k to $1 million in the short term, and virtually unlimited funding mid to long term. If the situation is right, we cover everything including gaining investor exposure. Please feel free to contact me via email or 877-570-1581 so we can further explore possibilities and learn more about what you do and what you need to become a leader in your market.
