StorSimple, which provides enterprise cloud storage for Windows and VMware environments, has announced the completion of a Series C round of funding that netted the company a cool $10.5 million. This round was led by Ignition Partners, with participation by past investors Index Ventures, Mayfield Fund and Redpoint Ventures. Altogether, StorSimple said it has raised $31.5 million in investment capital.

According to the company’s statement, StorSimple will use the money to grow its business both at home and internationally as it meets higher demand for its cloud storage appliance. Its deep relationship with Microsoft and on-premises Windows environments in general sets the company apart, according to StorSimple — and, incidentally, Microsoft just named StorSimple its BizSpark Partner of the Year, reflecting that relationship.

Interestingly, StorSimple did not indicate whether anyone from Ignition Partners would be joining the company’s board of directors, which is unusual for an investment of this magnitude.

But more intriguing than that is the fact that StorSimple has positioned this announcement as a way of showing that despite increasing uncertainty about the reliability of the cloud, interest in its solutions is only growing. We’ll be keeping an eye on StorSimple, so keep reading TalkinCloud.
