DynamicOps, which describes itself as ” the pioneer of the Operations Virtualization platform that enables unified cloud automation and management,” announced the addition of a “user-aware, self-service VM-reconfiguration capability” to its core offering. If you can get past the Buzzword Bingo, here are some details.
In the press release, DynamicOps boasts it’s the first time a solution grants users the ability to add or decrease memory, disk space, virtual CPUs or networks on their VMs, all on the fly with no need for intervention from IT staff.
It’s not that IT isn’t involved — administrators get fine control over who’s allowed to reconfigure their VMs while also choosing the resource limits on a per-user basis. The overall idea is to let enterprises maintain cloud cost savings while also granting performance boosts to the users who need it.
“To get the best ROI from cloud computing, enterprises need to tightly control resources while also providing more flexibility and autonomy for users,” said DynamicOps VP of Strategy and Product Management Chad Jones in a prepared statement.
