Hosted Exchange service provider Intermedia has announced its Online Storage offering, powered by Mozy, now supports Microsoft Windows Server backup. The company already was offering customers and resellers endpoint backup and storage, but it looks like Intermedia is now getting into the cloud disaster-recovery game.
Intermedia Online Backup now can be used to back up data from Windows Server 2000, 2003 and 2008. Similar to the existing Online Backup solution, it’s all managed through the Intermedia HostPilot dashboard, which also controls the company’s VoIP and messaging offerings.
As before, Intermedia’s hyping the channel-readiness of the solution, highlighting the security, simplicity and flat-out necessity of its solution for enterprises of all sizes. For managed service providers and resellers, Intermedia is promoting it as a way to easily add value to messaging deployments – again, as with the endpoint storage aspect of the product.
It’s probably good news for Intermedia partners who have customer servers to back up. But it’s an increasingly crowded market, and there are many cloud service providers out there doing the same thing.
