TalkinCloud has kept a close eye on ScaleXtreme as the cloud management and automation platform provider has matured its offering. Now ScaleXtreme has launched a partner program, enabling service providers that build their public or private clouds on VMware vCloud, Citrix/Cloud.com CloudStack or OpenStack offer customers easy, integrated administration tools.
According to the press release, the cloud service provider partner’s customers get the ability to “easily provision new servers, manage existing servers, configure, monitor and run one-time or recurring automation jobs on these servers,” via a free ScaleXtreme Xpress control panel. Moreover, thanks to a feature ScaleXtreme terms “Dynamic Server Assembly,” customers can use the platform to deploy a server template custom-tailored for a variety of applications.
The partner program itself seems fairly straightforward, with reseller (actually handling the point of sale) and affiliate (a smaller fee for referrals) tiers, an API for for user and account management, and training modules designed to get the partner up to speed.
Higher cloud adoption means more call for cloud management, and this market is only going to grow further in 2012. It might behoove the cloud service provider reading this to get on the ball if they haven’t already.
