ServiceMesh, the self-described provider of enterprise cloud platforms for Global 2000 companies, has announced it’s extending its hybrid cloud play with support for the Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform.

The way it works is a bit complicated, I think, but it’s all with an eye toward reducing overall complexity (if that makes any sense). The ServiceMesh Agility Platform itself enables administrators and cloud service providers to set “cloud governance, policy management, security, and workflow automation” in hybrid environments across multiple clouds and multiple cloud providers. And now, that includes support for Fujitsu.

In other words, users who leverage the ServiceMesh Agility Platform to manage their hybrid clouds can easily export workloads to the Fujitsu Global Cloud Platform, which has data centers the world over, including Japan, Australia, the United States, Germany, the United Kingdom and Singapore  — all under the same rules and security as the rest of their IaaS, PaaS and SaaS cloud deployments.

“We are delighted at the ServiceMesh announcement, which gives enterprise customers an easy way to build and deploy applications across our global network of cloud platforms, enabling them to meet local data residency and compliance requirements,”  said Cameron McNaught, senior vice president of Cloud for Fujitsu Global Business Group, in a prepared statement.

ServiceMesh raised $15 million in funding in the tail end of 2012, with an eye toward exactly this kind of platform expansion. We’ll be keeping an eye on ServiceMesh in particular and the way vendors are helping service providers jump the hurdles of managing multiple clouds in general.

I’ve been using the Agility Platform from ServiceMesh for 12 months and it does seem to provide a very user friendly interface for consumers and unified model for accessing multiple cloud providers.

It’s still a fairly new product in the marketplace but their service teams are quite responsive to adding new features.

The Agility REST API for programmatic access is comprehensive too. I even started experimenting with an Android app that uses its XML outputs – see m.cloud Cloud Platform Manager on Android.
